Let's Rise & Grind in this New Sun Cafe in Town!

It's been a couple of months since this curious place opened near my workplace, and since I pass by it every day, who would have thought this was actually an inconspicuous cafe??? Like they really need to do something about their exterior signage if this Grand Opening video of theirs is anything to go by (and as screenshot):

suncafe

The interior more or less makes up for it though (what with their full-sized glass windows and all), but you have to actually stop and stare just outside of the place to actually realize, "hey they sell coffee and food stuff here", rather than be wary of looking into a shady Chinese business operation. better safe than sorry y'all

cafe

And no, I didn't stop and stare to get a good take of their display case, since I did finally get the time to actually dine in this place and not just try their meager takeouts of drinks and pastries during their soft opening week. Did turn out that Sun Cafe ironically brings out the chic-vibes of their interior during after-work hours, when it's darker outside and when the lights are brighter in here like a glowing beacon in the otherwise dreary business town of Binondo.

I also can't help but notice that they've got this thing going on with mirrors, and while it does help with spreading out and reflecting the light around this and making it look cleverly spacious, it however will not bode well with vampires people who find it uncomfortable having their reflection "dining" with them... No? Just me? Guess that's my mirrorself disagreeing.

wall

Thankfully I did find a spot in the inner part of the cafe, more like a more private spot with this wall of frames, though I do have to suggest they put a curtain by the side here, where there is yet again a full-sized window where people can spy on you eating--- which speaking of, I've yet to talk about the food they offer here:

maindish

Too bad they ran out of the curious sidedish called Shanghai Croquettes, but their Truffle Parmesan Fries does make up for it. Also their pasta dishes are noted to be good for 2 in their menu, and you've got my food pic of their Crab Fat Pasta for reference on that.

drinks

Since Sun Cafe was first and foremost a coffee shop at first, they've got a wide array of caffeine being served, so while my mother tried their Yin Yang Iced Mocha-- with a choice of white dark or both (she chose dark)-- I leaned more towards their fruit selections. I've tried their Yoghurt based Raspberry Rush "Smoochie" during their soft-opening, so I was confident that this Mango Sunrise of theirs would taste just as great!

dessert

Lastly, always make room for dessert! Which was a slight bit of improvement from the Red Velvet I had from theirs before, this time their Lemon Meringue wasn't joking with how sour the lemon filling was, thankfully the whip-coated chiffon balanced it off with its sweetness. The real winner here for me was their Banoffee Pie, compared to their Meringue, I'd go for the sweet caramel-filling of this pie-- granted the banana was a little less ripe for my taste and the crust could use a bit more sugar to go along with the butter--- our dinner out here was all in all a delightful experience, quite perfect for a quick coffee date too. {・ω -*}
